James Bradley Lewis (62) died on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at his lake home near Battle Lake, Minnesota.
He was born on August 5, 1962 in Breckenridge, Minnesota to Dorothy and Bayard Lewis, a former lawyer and judge of Richland County, North Dakota. Jim lived in Wahpeton, North Dakota until he graduated from high school in 1980, where he was a member of the National Honor Society and an accomplished wrestler. Jim cherished his childhood memories spent in Wahpeton, especially at the family lake home on Silver Lake, Minnesota where he would spend much of the summer enjoying time with his family and friends and creating new memories, a ritual he maintained even after he left the state for Texas in 1984.
Just like he had his whole life, Jim lived life fully, trying to get the most out of every day, and then plunging into the next day with the same enthusiasm. He was an accomplished lawyer, having litigated in front of the Texas Supreme Court several times, and was a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a Senior Life Fellow of the Texas Association of Trial and Appellate Specialists, and a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, but he often said that his greatest goal was to be the best father he could be to his children, and he loved nothing more than being around his family.
He will be missed by his wife of 27 years, Vi, his son Joshua, daughters Madelyn and Jessica (Houston, TX), and his siblings, Linda (Dale) Parenteau (Rush City MN), Jay (Lyntha) Lewis (Fredericksburg, VA), Gail Lewis (Lino Lakes, MN), Robert (Heidi) Lewis (St. Paul, MN.) He was preceded in death by his parents, Bayard and Dorothy Lewis, his oldest brother, Gary, and his sister, Julie (Peters) Lewis.
There was an interment gathering of his families and close friends at his lake home shortly after his death where he was remembered the way he would have liked.
