Jacob "Jake" Schreiner

February 6, 1991 — December 17, 2022

Jake Schreiner, 31, of Wahpeton, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022, at his residence.  His Celebration of Life will be held at Noon on Friday, December 23, 2022, at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, with visitation two hours prior.  Rene Hasbargen will officiate.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Jake’s family has asked that this be a cheerful celebration of his life, and please wear your favorite band t-shirt, superhero t-shirt, or your favorite “nerd gear”.

Jacob James Schreiner was born in Breckenridge, MN, February 6, 1991, to Tim and Jolleen (Coffey) Schreiner.  That same year, Jake was baptized at St. Olaf’s Church in Elbow Lake, MN.  He attended high school in Breckenridge, graduating in 2010.  He then attended classes at NDSCS.  During his high school years, he worked at Jubilee Foods, then after graduation, he worked for M&M Construction.  He was currently employed for the last eight years by WCCO Belting in Wahpeton, ND, and served as a first responder on the safety committee.  He was a hard worker and moved up in his job quickly.  While working at WCCO, he met his partner, Nikki Shiavone, and they began their family.

Jake and Nikki had a blended family of five children, and spending time with them was on the top of Jake’s list of favorite things to do.  He was a proud father, taking his love of Batman into his self-given name of BatDad5.

Jake loved to play guitar.  Music was a huge part of his life, and he enjoyed sharing his love of heavy metal music with his children, as his dad shared it with him.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, gaming, and cooking.  He loved to cook deep dish pizzas in cast iron skillets.

Jake had a huge heart, and was always taking up for the underdog.  He would always take up for the kids who got picked on, and that landed him countless hours of detention, of which he didn’t mind.  His huge heart led him to rescue three dogs, whom he loved dearly.

Jake is survived by his partner, Nikki Schiavone; children, Jaxtyn and Bohdi; bonus children, Riley, Dakota, and Sawyer; parents, Tim and Jolleen Schreiner; brother, Tyler (Samantha) Schreiner, and their children, Hayley and Henry; grandparents, James and Jean Schreiner, Jerome Coffey, and Cecelia Manock.
