Irvin Moeller

September 21, 1939 — April 24, 2011

Irvin Moeller, 71, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of Riveredge Hospice. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 29, at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5 PM to 7 PM, with a 7 PM Sharing time with the family at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton. There will also be visitation one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton is in charge of arrangements.

Irv was born on September 21, 1939 in White Rock, SD to Martin and Ruth (Crooks) Moeller. He grew up in Fairmount, ND and attended school in Fairmount and graduated from Concordia, St. Paul in 1957. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1961. In 1964 he graduated from North Dakota State School of Science with a degree in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology.
On November 7, 1969 he married Dee Peterson (Eisenbeis) in Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron, SD along with her four children from a previous marriage. To this union was born a son. Irv worked in the refrigeration service field until 1971. In August of 1971, Irv, Dee and family moved to Wahpeton where he took a job as an instructor at NDSSS. In the summers, Irv often worked either in the industry or on the campus maintenance crew. While teaching, Irv was very active in his trade's professional organization, Refrigeration Service Engineers Society. He held numerous offices in the regional association of RSES as well as the International Association. Irv retired from NDSSS in 2001 after 30 yrs of service. He served as International President of RSES from 2001-2002. In this capacity, he and Dee enjoyed the extensive travel associated with his duties.
Irv was active at Bethel Lutheran Church as a Deacon, serving on numerous boards and teaching Sunday School. He enjoyed working and volunteering to care for flowers on Main Street and proudly tended to the flower beds at Chahinkapa Zoo with his wife Dee during retirement. While at home, he enjoyed working in their yard as well as completing numerous wood working projects. Irv and Dee were very fond of the birds and squirrels that relied on his daily feedings.
Irv is survived by his children Gary (Karen) Dunnick, LeSeuer, MN, Viola (David) Score, Wahpeton, Vernon (Thea) Dunnick, Canton, SD, Billie (John) Armendarez, Wyoming, MI, Michael (Jen) Moeller, Minot, ND; his nine grand children: Duane and Joseph Score, Sheena and Kevin Dunnick, Zac and Elizabeth Armendarez, and Madisen, Rylan and Emmylou Moeller, his four step grandchildren, Corrie Myhre, and Tyler, Chad and Amber Brahee; one step great grandchild, Benjamin Brahee; and sister Darlene Ennen, Bismarck, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dee Moeller; granddaughters, Crystal Armendarez and Gina Score; two nephews, Aaron and John Strohm; and a niece Debra Stuart.
