Irene Burrows

Irene Paape-Burrows, 100, Mesa, AZ, formerly Wahpeton, ND, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at The Springs of East Mesa in Mesa, AZ. Funeral services will be on Monday, July 27, at 11:00 AM at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, ND with Rev. Jule` Ballinger officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Irene Viola Halvorson was born on October 19, 1914 in Garborg Township, Richland County, ND to Tollef and Randi (Sire) Halvorson. She was baptized and confirmed at GolAal Lutheran Church in rural Wyndmere, ND and graduated from Wyndmere High School.

She worked in Breckenridge, MN prior to her marriage in 1938 to Gordon Paape. After their marriage they resided in Wahpeton, ND and she worked at Miller Drug and Corner Drug. Gordon passed away in 1977. She married Bennie Burrows in 1986 and they resided in Mesa, AZ. Bennie passed away in 2011.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Jeannine Iverson, Prior Lake, MN; her son, Dr. William (Linda) Paape, Bismarck, ND; her six grandchildren, Carol (Troy) Caron, Kristen Paape, Michael (Lisa) Iverson, Amy (Jeremy) Jacobs, Dr. Kevin (Melanie) Paape, Dr. Nicole (Jeff) Duckwitz; and her 15 great grandchildren, Bryn, and Carlie Caron, Kajsa, Emily, and Alyssa Iverson, Trent Johnson, Ella, Ava, and Adley Jacobs, Kayson, Amari, and Taycee Paape, Bennett, Brynn, and Beckett Duckwitz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Paape, her husband, Bennie Burrows, her parents, Tollef and Randi Halvorson, her sisters, Gustava Bottolfs, Esther Hanson, Avis Hoard, her brothers, Helmer Halvorson, Clarence Halvorson, Randolph Halvorson, Glenn Halvorson, and her son-in-law, Carl Iverson.
