Ilene Drewlow

Ilene Mary Drewlow, 72, of Wahpeton, ND, passed away Friday, December 20, 2019, at St. Catherine’s Living Center in Wahpeton.  Visitation and a Rosary will begin at 1:00 PM followed by her Funeral Mass at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 27, 2019, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wahpeton.  Fr. Tony Welle will officiate the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home.

Ilene Mary Wallace Drewlow was born April 22, 1947, to Hubert and Pauline (Lachowitzer) Wallace at Fergus Falls, MN. She grew up and attended school at Vining and Henning, MN, graduating from Henning High School in 1965. After her schooling, she attended the U of M in Morris, MN obtaining a certificate in Early Childhood Education.

She worked as a cook in the dietary and laundry departments at Wahpeton Health Care Center in the early 1980’s. She also worked as a Home Health Aid in Wilkin County Group Homes and with hospice patients. She was a natural caregiver.

Ilene was united in marriage to Gerald McCambridge on June 25, 1966, in Henning, MN, making their home in Osakis, MN and later moved to Breckenridge, MN. Ilene taught CCD and was also a lector at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Kent. MN. She served a Eucharistic minister, lector, and secretary for the Christian Mothers and was a member of St. Mary’s in Breckenridge.

Ilene was united in marriage to Darrell Drewlow on August 27, 1983, at Christ Lutheran Church in rural Wolverton, MN. The couple lived in Breckenridge, MN. Darrell passed away on September 9, 2017. Ilene later moved to Wahpeton where she became a member of St. John’s Catholic Church.

She was a member of Harmony Senior Citizens Club in Wahpeton, ND. A lifetime member of Breckenridge Senior Center where she worked with the nutrition services as a dietary site manager.

Ilene was a devoted Christian and enjoyed praying and her other interests were growing home plants, crafts, cooking, shopping on QVC and HSN, planting tomatoes each year, and loving her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Mary (Todd) Hagen, of Wahpeton, ND, Tina (Darryl) Berg, of Walhalla, ND, Lora Heilman, of Mandan, ND, Lucy Lehmann (and special friend Ben Oliver), of Wahpeton, ND, Patrick (Alicia) McCambridge, of Wahpeton, ND, and Christina (Travis) Keller, of Casselton, ND; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gerald Wallace of Campbell, MN, Gary (Shirley) Wallace, of Battle Lake, MN; and sister-in-law Cynthia Wallace, of Fergus Falls, MN.

Ilene is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Pauline Wallace; her first husband, Gerald McCambridge; her second husband, Darrell Drewlow; fiancé, David Tuckett; brothers, David Wallace and Richard Wallace; her aunt and uncle, Angie and Joe Fiedler; and her sister-in-law Erma Wallace.
