Howard Ziegelmann

Howard E. Ziegelmann, 84, Wahpeton, ND passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge , MN .  Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Grace Lutheran Church , Breckenridge , MN with Pastor Anthony Ahrendt and Pastor Ryan Drevlow officiating.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 18 from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Service at Willow Creek Chapel, ( 920 3 ^rd Ave N ) Wahpeton, ND.  There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery , Great Bend , ND .  Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Howard was born on February 3, 1926 in Brandenburg Township near Great Bend , ND to Otto and Adela (Bohn) Ziegelmann.  He grew up and attended rural school near Great Bend , ND .

Howard was united in marriage to Mildred Wendt on June 13, 1948.  He started working as a farm laborer in the area until he did construction for Northern Improvement in Fargo and being a bus driver/custodian for the Colfax School .  In 1968, Howard became a truck driver for Schuler Grain Company in Breckenridge , MN .  He worked for Wil-Rich in Wahpeton and then back to laborer for farmers in the Great Bend area.  In his later years Howard was the custodian for Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend , ND .

Howard was an avid Minnesota Twins fan, and liked to spend time at his daughter's farm.  In his younger years he enjoyed taking his family to visit Millie’s brother and wife in St. Paul , MN and spending time with his sister’s family at Hammond , MN .  He was a very loving, involved grandpa and great-grandpa.

Howard is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Millie, Wahpeton, ND; his three children: Cindy (Kevin) Krustinger, Breckenridge, MN and son, Michael (Jodi) Widhalm, Milnor, ND and their children, Alicia and James; Steven (Cheryl) Ziegelmann, Breckenridge, MN, and children, Christopher, Nicole (fiancé, Adam Marohl), Jessica, Aaron Ziegelmann and Jason, Justin (special friend, Muriah Olson and their son Jonathan) and Jordan Krause; Lynette (Gene Weyer) Bladow, rural Fergus Falls, MN, and children, Megan (Lucky) Bladow Jayasuriya and their daughter Greta, AJ (fiancé, Stephanie Hanson) Weyer; and his brother Earl Ziegelmann, Great Bend, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Hazel (Lester) Buck; his brothers, Harvey and Roy Ziegelmann; his son-in-law, Philip Widhalm, and a grandson, Jonathan Krause.

In lieu of flowers, Howard’s request was that donations be made to Riveredge Hospice.
