Herbert Bettermann

Herbert C. Bettermann, 85, Breckenridge, MN, formerly Minot, ND, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN. A Memorial Service will be Friday, 2:00 PM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, with Rev. Jim Gustafson officiating. There will be time to visit and share with the family one hour before the service. Interment will be at a later date.

Herbert C. Bettermann was born February 11th 1927 in Arthur, ND, the son of Carl and Dorothy (Gebhard) Bettermann. At age 9 he moved with his family to a farm in Ayr Township. Herbert graduated from Buffalo High School in 1945 and continued working on the farm.

On August 24, 1951 Herbert married Beatrice (Sortland) Klubben at the Saron Church, near Cooperstown, ND. In 1954 they moved to Fargo, ND where Herbert started work with O'Day Equipment. In 1964 O'Day transferred Herbert and his family to Minot, ND. Not long after the move to Minot, Herbert was hired by Murray Warner to work as the construction company's mechanic. He stayed at Warner Construction for many years until his retirement. Beatrice passed away January 9, 2009. Herbert entered St. Francis Nursing Home in March of 2012.

Herbert was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Minot, ND. In his younger days he enjoyed bowling, square dancing with Beatrice, playing cards and gardening and canning. He was a past member of the Elks and Eagles Lodges.

Those Who Shared in His Life, children: Mary Jo (Martin) Schramm, Jacksonville, FL, Roger (Tamara) Bettermann, Kirkland, WA and Janel (Dave) Wunderlich, Minot, ND; six grandchildren, Rebecca Clark, Laurie Hayhurst, Jake and Carlee Bettermann, Levi and Marlee Wunderlich; 5 great-grandchildren; Sister; Beverly (Jim) Stone, Barney, ND: numerous nieces and nephews.

Herbert was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
