Henry "Hank" Duursma

Henry "Hank" Duursma, 83, of Wahpeton, North Dakota, passed away Monday, October 16, 2023, at Four Seasons Healthcare in Forman, ND.  Services are to be held at a later date.  Updates will be posted as they are available.

Henry John Duursma was born April 22, 1940, in Carrington, North Dakota, to Ralph and Nellie (Wobbema) Duursma. 

Henry, or “Hank” as everyone knew him, grew up in Carrington, but called different places throughout his life “home”.  He worked as a carpenter and in construction, and later would drive semi for different lumberyards. 

Hank was blessed with 8 children, Mary, Sandy, Christine, Allan, Bill, Sheila, Mike, and BobbieJo.  He loved his family, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.  He had a passion for horses, hunting, and westerns. 

Hank is survived by his children, Sheila Erickson, Allan Duursma, Bill Duursma, and Mike Duursma; son-in-law Stephen Garcia; brother, Tom Duursma; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Nellie; wife, Edie Duursma; his daughters, Mary Hammer, Sandy Cobaly, Christine Presler, and BobbieJo Garcia; brother, Bud Duursma; and great-grandson, Airyck Garcia.
