Helen Trcka

Helen L. Trcka, 90, Breckenridge, MN, died peacefully on Friday, June 22, 2012 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Wahpeton. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Helen was born on November 6th, 1921, at Phillips, Wisconsin to Anton and Lillian (Vovcicka) Trcka. They moved to a farm near Wyndmere, ND in 1922. She attended rural school in Wyndmere Township and graduated from public school in 1935. In 1942, the family moved to a farm in Liberty Grove Township. She worked on the farm until 1965, when the family moved to Wahpeton ND.

In the spring of 1966, she began working at Rogers Hatchery, followed by employment with Gambles and Town and Country Supply. She later devoted her time to lovingly care for her parents until their deaths in 1986 and 1990. She remained in her home in Wahpeton until November of 2003, when she entered St. Francis Home.

She was a faithful member of St. John's Catholic Church in Wahpeton and a former member of St. John's Catholic Church in Lidgerwood, ND. She enjoyed baking, volunteering at church and keeping in touch with many of her cousins. She was a skilled seamstress, making many of her own clothes, and also created beautiful embroidered art.

Her family wishes to thank the staff of St. Francis Home for their kind and compassionate care of Helen for more than eight years.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
