Harry Dodd, 68, of Wahpeton, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at his residence. His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place Saturday, September 2, 2023, in Ashley, ND. Pastor Ken Adams will officiate.
Harry was born May 17, 1955, in Whitefish, Montana, to George and Cynthia (Bodeen) Dodd. He grew up in Whitefish, and attended school there.
He enjoyed metal detecting, and that is how he met his wife, Joey. The couple were married on August 13, 1977, in Ashley, ND. The couple would be blessed with a son, Andy.
After Harry and Joey were wed in 1977, they started working for Mutual Vending in Jamestown, ND. They serviced arcade games and replenished pull tabs. In 1985, the couple opened up the Ashley Café in Ashley, ND. In 1995, they sold the café, and Harry became a golf course greens keeper (a job in which he truly loved). In 1998, the family moved to Wahpeton, ND, and Harry began employment with Primewood. He would later retire in 2020 due to his health.
Harry was a quiet man who kept to himself. He enjoyed fishing, drawing, metal detecting, panning for gold, making paper snowflakes, and in his younger years, hiking in the mountains of Montana. He also enjoyed darts, bowling, and was a collector of knives and coins. He and his son Andy liked to camp in their tent at Hoskins and Green Lake, they also watched pro wrestling and NASCAR on television together, always rooting for Jeff Gordon. Harry liked old country music, which included Johnny Cash, Johnny Horton, Loretta Lynn, Elvis and many others.
Harry is survived by his son, Andy (JoAnn) Dodd.
He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 46 years, Joey; and his parents, George and Cynthia.
