Graydon "Grady" James Bohn, 91, of Fargo, North Dakota, formerly Mooreton, ND, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo. His funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton, ND. There will be a visitation one hour prior. Pastor Brock Schmeling will officiate the service. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, in Great Bend, ND, at a later date.
Grady was born May 16, 1932, in Wahpeton, North Dakota, to Harry and Matilda (Hoffman) Bohn. He was raised in Great Bend, ND, where he learned many skills that sustained him throughout his lifetime. He would attend both of the Lutheran Church services, one in German with his grandparents, W.C. and Emma Bohn; and the other in English with his parents, Harry and Tillie Bohn. He had many happy memories of Great Bend and Hankinson, ND, where he attended school and played football. Grady was also a pitcher for the Junior Legion baseball team.
Grady, his father, and his brother Clyde formed a partnership, Bohn Implement, which also included farming and raising registered Herford Cattle. They were known as the Pleasant Grove Herford Farm. Eventually, they decided to close the implement business, sold the cattle, and enlarged their farming operation. In 1969, they purchased land in Antelope County Northwest of Mooreton. Grady and his family moved there at that time.
Beside his family, his greatest pleasures were farming, fishing, and traveling in his 5th wheel camper. Other than the New England states, he and his family made every state. He especially enjoyed his trips to Washington State to see his daughter and family. Grady's grandchildren were the light of his life. He loved to tease and play tricks on them as they would as well.
Grady is survived by his wife, Edie; daughter, Jackie (David) Barton; sons, Kelly Bohn, Scott (Merrianna) Bohn, Skip (Jovinae) Bohn; four grandchildren, Heather Bohn, Christina Bohn, Lindsey Barton, Kyle Barton; step-grandchildren, Michael, Jeramiah, and Kaylle Bohn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Matilda; brother and sister-in-law, Clyde (JoAnn) Bohn.
Family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Great Bend Lutheran Cemetery, or the charity of your choice.
