Grant Karamanov, 75, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND. Visitation and remembrance of Grant's life with his family will be Tuesday, November 18, from 4 PM to 6 PM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton.
Grant was born June 8, 1939, the son of Israfion and Rosa (Asrieva) Karamanov in Baku, Azerbaijan, the former Soviet Union. He grew up in Baku, where he attended school; at the age of 16 he took further training in becoming a tailor. He married Sarra Pogosova in Baku, where they raised their two sons. He worked for many years as a scale inspector. The family moved to the United States in 1991; where they settled in Wahpeton, ND. Grant worked for Primewood, Wahpeton, later for Sterns Clothing in Wahpeton for several years. Grant continued to work as a tailor and in alterations until he retired.
Grant enjoyed chess, backgammon and many types of card games. As a pass time he followed soccer and volleyball. In Baku he was a very popular with his many relatives and enjoyed music and dancing. He will be remembered by his family, friends and acquaintances as a kind and gentle man.
Grant is survived by his loving wife, Sarra, his two sons, Sergey (Irina) and Vadim Karamanov, all Wahpeton; his granddaughter, Michelle at NDSU in Fargo; and his sister, Greta Petrosian, Russia.
He was preceded in death by his father who passed away in WWII and his mother who lived to the age of 96.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.
