Grace was born on July 5, 1919 in Wahpeton, ND to Edward and Frieda (Jehs) Miller. She attended Garborg Township School and was confirmed at the McLeod Lutheran Church. On October 5, 1936 she married Harold Lehman at St. Adalbert's Catholic Church in Wahpeton. Grace served as a "Mother to Many" as she worked at the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton from 1959 to her retirement in 1990. She spent many of those years at Babcock Hall and helped many students at the college with her "motherly" duties. She was an avid sports fan; attending most of the college athletic activities. She was named "Wildcat Backer' in 1990; an honor she was very proud of. In 2008 the North Dakota State College of Science selected her as "Wildcat of the Year". She was again so honored. Grace was also a tremendous baseball fan for both the BW Twins and American Legion Wahpeton baseball program. In her retirement Grace became known as the "Twin Town Taxi Driver" as she caringly drove her friends to their appointments and activities. Her home was always open to anyone as she graciously welcomed them in. Many college students found their residence in her home and were treated as her own children. Grace also enjoyed needlework, making quilts, walking and swimming at the NDSCS and always visiting with family and friends. Her grandchildren have fond memories of the countless hours spent with Grace at the Chahinkapa Zoo and Prairie Rose Carousel.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, Christian Mothers, American Legion Auxiliary, Birthday Club and the infamous "Has Been's" NDSCS retirees group.
"Amazing Grace" as she was known is lovingly survived by her daughter; Judy (Nelson) Coleman, Placentia, Ca and her son Jim (Carol) Lehman, Fargo, ND, her 11 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren and 6 great- great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold, July 27, 1988, her son Jerry on November 3, 2012 and her two sisters, Marian Larson and Phyllis Hoffman.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to the Chahinkapa Zoo or the Prairie Rose Carousel in Wahpeton.
