Florence Burvee

Florence O. Burvee, 94, Fairmount, ND, died Friday, May 15, 2009, at St. Catherine’s Living Center, Wahpeton, ND. Order of the Eastern Star and Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 19 at the Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton with Pastor Fern Bailey officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Fairmount Cemetery .

Florence Opal Burvee was born January 14, 1915, at Roseau , MN to Porter and Julia (Voss) Snyder. She moved to LaMars Township , ND with her parents and attended LaMars #1, graduating from Rosholt SD High School. On April 21, 1935, she married A. B. (Burt) Burvee at Lidgerwood , ND . The couple farmed in DeVillo Township until Burt died on February 7, 1976. Florence moved into Fairmount. Florence has been a resident of St. Catherine’s Living Center since January 2003. She took an active part in various activities of her husband during his service in the North Dakota Legislature. Florence was proud of the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Fairmount United Methodist Church, Fern Leaf Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Fairmount for over 50 years - having held many offices both in local Chapter and Grand Chapters; member of the Literary Club. She enjoyed working outside in her garden with her flowers and yard work. During her marriage to Burt they had traveled extensively throughout the United States .

She is survived by her children, Carol (Frank) Randall, Underwood, MN and Arv (Carol) Burvee, Fairmount, ND; 6 grandchildren, Joe (Lori) Randall, Jennifer (Steven) LeMire, Chris (Jeff) Brown, Caryn (Jeff) Bommersbach, Charlie (Alice) Burvee, and Beth (Larry) Lasch; 10 great-grandchildren, Madeline and Michael Randall, Eric and Adam Bommersbach, Douglas and Carmen Burvee, Sophia and Francois LeMire, and Kasey and August Lasch.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, A. B. (Burt); her son, Douglas; and her 2 brothers, Roy and John.
