Evelyn M. Fink, 90, Breckenridge, MN, formerly Wahpeton, ND, died Monday, March 17, 2008 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN. The Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, March 25, 10:30 am, at St. John s Catholic Church, Wahpeton. Visitation will be Monday from 4 PM to 7 PM with a Forester?s Rosary at 4 PM and a Prayer Vigil at 7 PM at Willow Creek Chapel (920 3rd
Ave. N.) Wahpeton and one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Wahpeton. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Evelyn Evie Fink was born October 11, 1917 in Lidgerwood, ND to Raymond and Louis Soens. She attended country school in Lidgerwood, ND through the 8th grade. She moved to Wahpeton where she worked for the Zentgraf family. Evie married William Bill Fink on October 25, 1940. She went on to work at the Wahpeton Hotel, the Wahpeton Hospital, the Bois de Sioux Country Club, Jorgensen s Variety and finally the State School of Science.
Her career at the college brought much joy to her, as well as to the students; from welcoming them in on their first day at school to sending them off on graduation day, students all new Mom Fink. Many students were welcomed into Evie s home for a home cooked meal or just the warmth of her love.
After retiring 25 years ago, Evie continued to enjoy bowling, her card club, traveling, gardening and her family and friends. Her husband Bill, passed away August 9, 1986. Evie entered St. Francis Nursing Home, Breckenridge in November of 2006.
Evie was a member of St. John s Catholic Church, Wahpeton and St. Genevieve s Court No. 1003 of the Foresters. She worked hard, played hard, enjoyed life and embraced it. Her family was so very important to her but her faith always came first. It carried her through life.
Evie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Carol Fink, Savage, MN; two grandsons: Jon Fink, Kansas City, MO and Troy (Stefanie) Fink, Moorhead, MN; her niece, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William, Bill Fink, her parents, Louise and Raymond Soens, and her brother ,C. E. Bud Soens
Bill, Carol, Jon, Troy and Stefanie thank each of you for sharing in this celebration as well as thank you for all of the kindness you extended to Evie throughout her life and especially during these last two years.
