Ernest E. Nash, 89, Breckenridge, MN, formerly rural Galchutt, ND, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at CHI St. Francis Health, Breckenridge, MN. Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 5, at 10:30 AM at Bethany Free Lutheran Church, Rural Abercrombie, ND with Rev. Thomas Reagan officiating. Visitation will be Friday, from 5 PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, ND. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Bethany Free Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to the charity of donor's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.
Ernest Elmore Nash was born on February 22, 1926 to Palmer and Bertha (Inga Bertina) Nash at rural Colfax, ND. He spent much of his youth living with his grandparents, Eric and Karen Peterson; caring for them and helping on their farm near Galchutt ND. He took over that farm in 1950.
On May 16, 1953, he married Jean Faust and lived at their dairy farm until he moved into Maple View Memory Care, in Fargo ND, in fall 2014. In January 2015 he moved to St. Francis Health Care in Breckenridge, MN.
He was a lifelong and dedicated member of Bethany Free Lutheran Church, rural Abercrombie, ND. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage and was a member of Trønderlag of America, an organization of descendants from the Trøndelag region of Norway. He loved horses, baseball and kids activities.
Surviving are his wife, Jean (Faust) of Fargo ND, his six children: Wanita (Ken) Sletten of Duluth, MN, Naomi (Kevin) Pankow of Cando, ND, Perry (Gretchen) Nash of Osakis, MN, Joel (Sue) Nash of Waconia, MN, Sonia (Jim) Muller of Wahpeton, ND, and Bradley (Bev) Nash of Wahpeton, ND; sister, Beatrice (Daniel) Faust of Valley City, ND; 22 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Palmer and Bertha Nash, and brother Kenneth Nash.
