Elwood L. Lund, 81, Dwight, ND, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at Sanford Healthcare, Fargo, ND. The Funeral Service will be Friday, August 3, 11:00, at Faith Lutheran Church, Dwight, ND, with Rev. Gordon Lee officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5 PM to 8 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Service at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, and one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be at Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Dwight.
Elwood was born on October 18, 1930 in Wahpeton, ND to Alvin and Annie (Anderson) Lund. He attended grade school in Dwight, ND and graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1948. He then attended NDSSS in the agriculture program.
Elwood farmed his entire life in Dwight Township and still resided on the farm. He enjoyed his visits with the neighbors; his kitchen was known as the area's coffee shop as they stopped by daily and were served to good conversation and coffee.
Elwood was a lifetime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Dwight where he served on the church council and as an usher. He looked forward to receiving the daily papers, reading them front to back. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings.
Elwood is survived by his two brothers, Glen (LuAnna) Lund and Alvin Lund Jr. both of Dwight and his sister, Connie Johnson of Burlington, WI; his sister-in-law, Shirley Lund, Fargo, ND; his nieces, Cindy (Steven) Linstaedt, Fargo, Lori Jerome, Aurora, IL, Sheila Carney, Fargo, ND, Tanya (Greg) Alexander, Grand Forks, ND, Paula (Joe) Fox, Burlington, WI; his nephew, Bryan (Patti) Smith, Fargo, ND; as well as many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Merlin Lund; a sister, Shirley Smith; brothers-in-law, Lyle Smith and Glen Johnson; and a nephew Mark Lund.
