Elsie was born on April 12, 1919 in Milbank, SD to Ora and Irene Tapper. She grew up and attended school in the Milbank area. She began attending North Central Bible Institute in Minneapolis, MN in 1937 graduating in 1941, and thereafter became a licensed minister. She traveled around the upper Midwest as a singing evangelist, where she preached and also planted many churches. For some years she lived in Detroit Lakes, MN and worked for Norbya�(TM)s.
Elsie was united in marriage to Ralph Jost on June 23, 1956 in Detroit Lakes. They lived on a farm near Wahpeton where she helped with the farming and raised their three children. Throughout her life she was very active in her church. Elsie and Ralph were instrumental in starting the Assembly of God Church in Wahpeton, where they faithfully served in various capacities for many years. In June 2007, they entered St. Catherinea�(TM)s Living Center and Ralph preceded her in death on November 28, 2007.
Elsie enjoyed leading Bible studies, delivering Meals on Wheels, visiting with shut-ins and ministering to others. She especially loved the special times with her children and grandchildren.
Elsie is survived by her sons: Randy Jost, Wahpeton, Ron (Mary) Jost, Wahpeton; her daughter, Renee (Darrel) Essig, Breckenridge, MN; her grandchildren, Amanda, Carissa, and Dylan Jost, Wahpeton, Dacie and Raeanna Essig, Breckenridge; her brother, George (Betty) Tapper, Park Rapids, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph Jost; and her two brothers and two sisters.
