Eldon C. Larson, 83, Fargo, ND, passed away Friday, December 13, 2013 at Elim Home, Fargo. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., at Olivet Lutheran, Fargo, with visitation Monday, from 5 PM to 8 PM, with a 7 PM prayer service at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton and one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
Eldon was born August 22, 1930 at Fargo, ND, the son of Clifford and Isabelle (Tolstad) Larson. He attended grade school in Kindred, ND, and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1948. He attended NDSCS. He married Catherine Crogan on November 24, 1956 at Faith Lutheran Church, Dwight, ND. Eldon farmed for 33 years in rural Wahpeton. The couple moved into Wahpeton, ND in 1979 and retired from farming in 1987; moving to Fargo in 1998. They wintered in Arizona for 28 winters and summered for many years at the lakes in Minnesota.
Eldon was a member of Olivet Lutheran Church and had served on the Faith Lutheran Church Board. He served in the ND House of Representatives, being elected in 1963. Eldon served on Dwight Township Board and was honored as Richland County Outstanding Young Farmer by Farmers Union in 1963 and Wahpeton Chamber of Commerce in 1964. He was on the original Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative Board of Directors from 1972 to 1984. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and gardening. He was a member of the Sons of Norway, El Zagel Shrine, and the Arabian Knights of Wahpeton.
Eldon is survived by his wife Catherine, Fargo; four daughters: Susan Farbo, Buffalo, MN; Cheryl Larson (Terri Blattenbauer) Apple Valley, MN; Jean (Bruce) Bokinskie, Fargo; Janice (Bruce) Nereson, Fargo; eight grandchildren: Ashley (Anthony) Schulzetenberg, St. Louis Park, MN; Laura Farbo, Hamburg, Germany; Maxwell and Khloe Larson-Blattenbauer, Apple Valley, MN; Katherine Bokinskie, Hillsboro, ND; Kirsten Bokinskie, Fargo; Sarah Nereson, Bagley, MN; Benjamin Nereson, Fargo; his sister, Madeline Miller, Wahpeton.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Anthony Bokinskie.
