Elden Thiele, 93, Wahpeton, ND, formerly Great Bend, ND, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at St. Gerard's Nursing Home, Hankinson, ND. The Funeral Service will be Friday, 11:00 a.m., at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, ND with Rev. Sean Daenzer officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Great Bend, ND. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.
Elden was born on May 15, 1920 in rural Great Bend, ND to Walter and Mabel (Laboda) Thiele. He was raised and attended school in Brandenburg Township and farmed with his father.
Elden was united in marriage to Pearl Manske at Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend on February 9, 1939. They started farming on the farm outside of Great Bend and raised their children. Pearl passed away in 1970. On April 7, 1972 Elden married Irene Hingst and they continued to live on the farm. Irene passed away on January 5, 1991 and a few years later Elden moved into Wahpeton. In the fall of 2010, he became a resident of St. Gerard's Nursing Home in Hankinson.
Elden was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He loved to fish whenever he could and also traveling with Irene to Arizona for the winter was special to him. He could also be found many times at a baseball game watching his grandkids play.
Elden is survived by his daughters, Arlene Bladow, Hankinson, ND, Carol (Jim) Martin, Orange, CA; his seven grandchildren, Renee (Kevin) Bladow, Rick (Jackie) Bladow, Reggie (Michelle) Bladow, Rochelle (David) Bladow, Robbie Bladow, James (Emma) Martin, Theresa (Doug) Martin; his eleven great-grandchildren, Chris, Paige, Amber, Josh, Matthew, Sky, Annika, Anissa, James, Alonda, Jaren; his three great-great grandchildren, Kilee, Kinslee, and Dredian; his brother, Noble "Johnny" (Patsy) Thiele, Mesa, AZ; his half-sisters, Sandy Springer, Breckenridge, MN, Barb (Carrol) Kratcha, Great Bend, ND, Judy (George) Braun, Fargo, ND, Laurie Thiele, Fargo, ND; his sister-in-law, Donna Thiele, Wahpeton, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Pearl, his second wife, Irene, his son, Dale Thiele, his granddaughter, Robin Bladow, his great-great granddaughter, Kredence,
