Elaine Jacobson

May 23, 1925 — April 6, 2014

Elaine M. Jacobson, 88, Wahpeton, ND, passed away, Sunday, April 6, 2014, at St. Catherine's Living Center, Wahpeton. The Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at 2:00 PM at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, ND, with Rev. Dale Lagodinski as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour before the Mass at the Church. There will be a Christian Mother's Rosary at 1:00 PM. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Wahpeton. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton.

Elaine was born May 23, 1925, the daughter of Herbert and Florence (Krause) Hodel at Wahpeton, ND. Elaine attended St. John's School and graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1943. She attended NDSSS in Secretarial Program and worked for Dr. HH Miller. Elaine was united in marriage to Donald Jacobson on September 4, 1945, at St. John's Catholic Church in Wahpeton. Elaine was employed at Red River Valley Clinic and later worked for Richland County Selective Service before she became Executive Secretary for the region. She was also Secretary-Treasurer for Jacobson Decorating.

Elaine and Don retired to Otter Tail Lake, MN, in 1984, enjoying the summers with family and friends and winters in Arizona. Don passed away December 1, 1998. Elaine moved back to Wahpeton in 2005 to be closer to family, residing at the Leach Home for the past two years before recently entering St. Catherine's Living Center.

Elaine was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and was an avid sports fan, listening to local High School and College sports on the radio. She enjoyed crocheting, making many items for her family and friends.

Elaine is survived by her son and daughter: David (Beverly) Jacobson, Wahpeton; Carol Jacobson, Wahpeton; four grandchildren: Trista (Shane) Koziol, West Fargo, ND; Donnie (Andrea) Jacobson, Moorhead, MN; Toni (Scott) Elde, Grand Forks, ND; Teri (John) Muske, Eureka, SD, and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Don, her brother Les Hodel, and two sisters, Geraldine Hornberger and Dolores Nygaard.
