Elaine Hubrig, 95, Wahpeton, ND, formerly of Fairmount, ND, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017 at St. Catherine's Living Center, Wahpeton. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 12, at 1:30 PM at First English Lutheran Church, Fairmount, ND with Rev. Anthony Ahrendt officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Fairmount. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First English Lutheran Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.
Elaine Hattie Hubrig was born on April 11, 1921 in DeVillo Township, near Fairmount, ND to Loren and Elsie (Krause) Manock. She attended country school until her twin brothers were born and she then became a home helper.
Elaine was united in marriage to Alfred Franz Carl Hubrig on June 12, 1940. They together farmed a multi-tasked venture of livestock and grain and raised their three children, Sharon, Shirley, and Dale. After selling their farm they moved to Fairmount and they both worked for Meide and Sons Construction in Wahpeton. Elaine cleaned and painted apartments and buildings and used her skills to help her friends and family as well.
Elaine and Alfred loved to square dance which was their main entertainment. Elaine was also active in the Fairmount Homemakers, was a member of the Fairmount American Legion Auxiliary, and bowled with "The Jolly Janes". Elaine was known as a worker and was not known to sit still too much and will be missed by her family.
Elaine is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Allan) Meyer, Sun City, AZ, Shirley (Roger) Schmit, Jackson, MN; her grandchildren, Crystal Boutiette, Kelly (Teresa) Meyer, Kathy (Brad) Larson, Dean (Mary) Meyer, Mark Meyer, Rhonda (Charles) Lee, Randy Schmit; her great-grandchildren, Jeremy Boutiette, Ashley (Justin) Anderson, Alexandra Peters, Christopher, Bethany, and Andrew Larson, Connor and Dalton Meyer, Evan (Jen) Cummings, Erin Cummings, and Erika and CJ Lee; her great-great grandchildren, Eli and Hazel Mae Anderson, Madeline Cummings, Wesley Swanson; her sisters, Mary (Robert) Smith, Wahpeton, ND , Alice (Charles) Buchholz, El Reno, OK; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alfred, her son, Dale, her great grandson, Marty Boutiette, and her siblings, Agnes, George, Nathan, Lucille, Lloyd, Melvin, Marvin, Arthur, and Viola.
