Elaine Harles

Elaine I. Harles, 77, Abercrombie, ND, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, 10:30 am, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Kent, MN. Visitation will be Friday, from 5 PM to 7 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Vigil at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, Kent. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Elaine was born August 29, 1934 at Lisbon, ND, the daughter of Ted and Edna (Brezicka) Rehak. She was raised and attended school in Forman, ND, graduating from Forman High School in 1952. She was united in marriage to Edward "Bud" Harles on January 24, 1953. They later moved to Abercrombie, ND where the couple owned and operated Bud's Bar. Bud passed away in 1975 and Elaine continued to live in Abercrombie. She did seasonal work at Schiltz Food Inc. in Sisseton, SD and Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative in Wahpeton, ND. She kept active in her retirement by helping out at the Community Center in Abercrombie.

Elaine was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Kent, MN. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and was an avid doll collector. She loved to listen to polka music.

Elaine is survived by her son, Greg (Pat) Harles, Sisseton, SD; three grandchildren: Trina (Darin) Fonder, Sisseton, SD; Amber Harles-Keeble and Ashley Harles, both of Sisseton; five great grandchildren: Austin, Garrett, Cierra Fonder; JaRae Harles and Bentley Keeble.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bud, her son Michael "Buddy", her daughter-in-law, Pamela (Bolstad) Harles, and her daughter, Laina Harr.
