Loren was born in Wahpeton, ND on November 22, 1936 to Edwin and Maret "Mary" (Hagen) Hage. He was baptized at Richland Lutheran Church and attended country school until 8th grade in Eagle Township. He graduated from Abercrombie High School in 1954.
After high school, Loren worked on his uncle's farm and then in the winter of 1956, he and Myron Rostad went to California and worked at the Converse Aircraft factory. They returned to North Dakota in the spring of 1957.
Loren married his wife of 52 years, Claudette "Clint" Stollenwerk at Breckenridge Lutheran Church in Breckenridge, MN on October 25, 1958. They made their home in Wahpeton where Loren worked for Vertin's Furniture and Funeral Home installing floor covering until April of 1967. After the death of Loren's aunt and uncle, they moved to rural Colfax and took over the family farm and he continued farming until his retirement in 1999. Loren and Clint moved back to Wahpeton in 2001, but Loren continued to help his son Brad on the farm until the fall of 2010.
Loren enjoyed spending time with his family at Deer Lake. He also enjoyed playing softball, hunting, and fishing with his sons. One of his favorite hobbies was woodworking in his woodshop, where he made many special items for his children and grandchildren.
Loren was a life-long member of Richland Lutheran Church and he served on the church board and was treasurer of the cemetery board for many years.
Together Loren and Clint had five sons: Sheldon (Jamie) Hage, Fargo, ND, Keith (Judy) Hage, rural Wahpeton, ND, Bradley (Leslie) Hage, rural Colfax, ND, Jeffrey (Eileen) Hage, Breckenridge, MN and Joel Hage, LaMoure, ND.
Loren is survived by his wife, his sons and daughters-in-law, and his twelve grandchildren: Miranda, Stephanie, and Lauren Hage, Fargo, ND, Ryan (Kari) Hage, Fargo, ND, Erin (Dave) Gustafson, Sidney, MT, Brittany (Zachary) Hatting, Vermillion, SD, Alexis and Damon Hage, Colfax, ND, Carmen Myer, Mankato, MN, Kirsten Herding, Wahpeton, ND, Shelby Dohman, Breckenridge, MN, and Gaige Hage, Breckenridge, MN. He was looking forward to the birth of his first great-grandchild due in September.
Loren was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Maret Hage; his father and mother-in-law, Peter (Bud) and Leobelle (Billie) Stollenwerk; his special aunt, Selma Hagen and special uncle, Phillip Hagen; his brother-in-laws Michael Stollenwerk and Richard Neppl; and his niece, Leah Hofer.
