Duane Gibble

Duane Gibble, 74, Fairmount, ND, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be on Monday, December 21, at 11 AM at Fairmount United Methodist Church, Fairmount, ND with Pastor Mark Gronseth officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, ND. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Fairmount, ND. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Duane was born on April 19, 1941 in Benson, MN to Harry and Molly (Umland) Gibble. His youth was spent working different jobs in the west central Minnesota area including cutting ice out of frozen lakes. He met the love of his life Janelle Fronning on a blind date and they were united in marriage on October 17, 1964 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls, MN.

They lived in the Rothsay, MN, Wendell, MN and Campbell, MN areas where Duane worked for famers until they moved to Fairmount, ND in 1978 and settled down with his family and continued to do farm work. Agriculture was an important part of Duane's life and even after he retired due to health issues he would continue to sneak out to the farm and drive a tractor every once in a while.

Duane was a member of the Fairmount United Methodist Church and also enjoyed his special hunting and fishing trips. Family and friends were very important to him and he was always there to lend a helping hand when he could. He was a kind man whotook great care of his family and will be truly missed.

Duane is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janelle; his children, Teresa (Colt) Pearson, Breckenridge, MN, Kristie (Kevin) Brezina, Alexandria, MN, Eric (Janell) Gibble, Perham, MN, Jessica (Clay Helmbrecht) Gibble, New York Mills, MN; his grandchildren, Alycia (Gregg) Mykland, Park Rapids, MN, Travis, Brock, and Dylan Pearson, all of Breckenridge, MN, Brigitte, Nicole, and Nicolas Witt, Joshua, Joe, and Amanda Brezina, all of Alexandria, MN, Austin Gray and Derek Gibble, both of Perham, MN, and Wyatt Helmbrecht, New York Mills, MN; his great- grandchildren, Reed Mykland, Park Rapids, and one on the way in April; his sister, Bertha Anderson, Morris, MN; and his special friend and coffee buddy, Bob Meyer, Fairmount.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Edna Mau, his brothers-in-law, James Anderson and Mark Mau.
