Donald Allan Otto, 79, Wahpeton, ND passed away on July 7, 2015 at his residence. A private family service will be held. Arrangements are with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.
Don was born on August 12, 1936 at Fargo, ND to Albert and Margaret (Zimmerman) Otto. He received his formal education and graduated from Lincoln High School (now Central Cass) in Casselton, ND. He worked for his father during WWII in the lumber yard. Don also worked for the Casselton Park Board.
In 1955, Don started working for the Northern Pacific Railroad and for the Burlington Northern Railroad. He was a section laborer which involved maintenance on the track. In 1958 he moved to Wahpeton, ND with his parents. He continued to work on the railroad until his retirement on January 1, 1996. He continued to live at his home in Wahpeton to the present date.
Don is a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton and the Railroad Retirees, and he was a lifetime member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way employees. He enjoyed O Gauge electric trains, reading pocket books, and walking.
Don is survived by his sister, Carol J. Ritter, Roseburg, OR, and five nieces.
He was preceded by his parents, Albert and Margaret Otto, and his brother, Robert Otto.
