Donald L. Miller, 84, Tyler, ND, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Palliative Care Unit, Sanford South Campus, Fargo, ND. The Funeral Service will be Friday, March 7, 10:30 am, at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4 PM to 7 PM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, and one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton in the spring. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.
Don was born August 1, 1929, at Breckenridge, MN, the son of Harry and Leora (Egan) Miller. He attended country school at Summit No. 4 and graduated from Wahpeton High School. He married Dorothy Veflin on November 8, 1952; the couple lived and farmed near Tyler where they raised their three children. Along with farming, Don did custom combining for several years. He thoroughly enjoyed farming and continued to help out on the farm up to last summer and fall. He and Dorothy wintered in Mesa for several winters.
Don's hobby and life was farming, he was an avid hunter and had a love of horses.
Don is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy; two sons and a daughter: Scott (Liz) Miller, Tyler, ND; Cindy (Allen) Fugere, Estelline, SD; Tim (Kelly) Miller, Tyler, ND; eight grandchildren: Josh (Megan) Miller, Detroit Lakes, MN; Justin (Lindsay) Miller, Tyler , ND; Jayce (Cassie) Miller, Wahpeton; Nicole (Jess) Freesemann, Sioux Falls, SD; Lindsey (Landon) Vetter, Castlewood, SD; Corey Fugere and fiancé Megan, Estelline, SD; Tyler Miller, Wahpeton; Kelsey (Tyler) Kent, Wahpeton; 11 great grandchildren; and his sister Irene (Larry) Staack, Boise, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Russell and Rob Miller and a great-grandson, Easton Fugere.
