Dennis Bjerkager

Dennis Bjerkager, 82, Wahpeton, ND, formerly Galchutt, ND, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at CHI-St. Francis Health, Breckenridge, MN. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 12, at 10:30 AM at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, with Rev. Michael Buller officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the spring at Bethany Free Lutheran Cemetery, Galchutt. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Dennis was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1934 to John and Mabel (Berg) Bjerkager in Galchutt, ND. He grew up and attended school in Galchutt and spent most of his life there. After his education, he became self-taught in auto and small engine repair and ran Bjerkager Garage in Galchutt. He also worked a few years for the North Dakota State Highway Department and was also a long time school bus driver for the Galchutt School District. In 2012, he became a resident of St. Catherine's Living Center, Wahpeton, ND.

Dennis was a member of Galchutt Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening and hobby trains. He will be missed by his special neighbors, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mabel Bjerkager, his brother, Jervis Bjerkager, and his sister, Selma "Sally" Oie and her husband Roy.
