Delwood B. Meyer, 63, Wahpeton, ND, and Pollock, SD, passed away Monday, February 10, at his daughter's home under the care of Riveredge Hospice. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, 7:00 PM at Evergreen United Methodist Church, Wahpeton, ND, with Rev. Jenny Hallenbeck officiating. There will be time for fellowship, visitation and light lunch from 5 PM until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.
Delwood Bruce Meyer was born January 26, 1951, in Breckenridge, MN, to Allen and Nellie (Andel) Meyer. He attended St. John's School and graduated from Wahpeton Senior High School in 1969 and NDSSS in 1972. Delwood married Loretta Hill on August 12, 1972 in Wahpeton. The couple lived and worked in Wahpeton, having three children. He began working at Minn-Dak Farmers Coop, Wahpeton, in 1975, and continued working for 35 years until retiring in February of 2011. Delwood moved to Pollock, SD, where he enjoyed his retirement doing what he loved best, hunting and fishing.
Delwood was an avid outdoorsman and was a member of the Wahpeton Buffalo Club, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and the NRA. He spent many summers at the lake fishing and spent the fall hunting with his family and friends. He especially treasured fishing on the Missouri River near Pollock.
Delwood is survived by his three children: Christopher (Jennifer) Meyer, Woodbury, MN; Nicole Keller, Wahpeton; and Brent "Bubba" (Jennifer DeHoet) Meyer, Columbia, SD; nine grandchildren, Alaina Keller, Alex Meyer, Dylan Keller, Samantha Meyer, Hunter Meyer, Jemini Cantaloupe, Cole Meyer, Cody Meyer and Madelynn Meyer; one great grandchild, Tate Michael Keller, his brothers: Ron (Sharon) Meyer, Fargo; Merlin (Lori) Meyer, Wahpeton; Chad (Marie) Meyer, Burlington, ND; his sister, Debbie (Jim) Pilgrim, Albert Lea, MN and sister-in-law, Karon Meyer, Wahpeton; two aunts, Madonna Syvertsen and Josephine Miller and an uncle Clarence Andel, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Nellie Meyer and his brother Warren Meyer and several aunts and uncles.
