Deborah Anne Resler was born on September 2, 1949, to James and Irene (Hejtmanek) Hruza, in Breckenridge, MN. She was raised on a farm in rural Lidgerwood, ND, alongside her four siblings. In 1967, Deb graduated from Lidgerwood High School. Shortly thereafter she met her future husband, Donald Resler. On April 12, 1969, Deb and Don were married. In 1983, Deb became a member of the Wahpeton Eagle's Club where she remained a member until her death. She was the local president for multiple years and the State president of the Dakotas in 2002-2003. She was a dedicated member of the auxiliary, frequent volunteer and amazing cook for the Eagles Wednesday Night suppers- not many people will soon forget her famous potato salad. Deb was also very active at St. John's Church. She was a devout member of the congregation, active volunteer, and participated in the St John's Circle. She volunteered her cooking skills for many church functions such as Mardi Gras and Noel Night. Deb was also a member of the Wahpeton Fire Department Auxiliary.

Since 1997, Deb was the head cook at St. John's Catholic School. There she shaped the lives and nutrition of hundreds of students that passed through the cafeteria doors. It is almost guaranteed that every student can tell you their favorite meal from their St. John's day's or reminisce about how no one could make better homemade buns. Deb was an incredibly hard-working woman and took pride in every smile that she brought to the student's faces. Deborah Resler was a woman that gave something to someone every day of her life. She never sat down until the sun went down over her garden – sometimes working far into the night. Even when sick, she never missed a day of work. She was woman of great pride that never faltered, even when faced with her death. Her children are lucky to have someone so strong as their mother. Her husband is proud to claim such a hard-working and loving woman as his wife. She will be sorely missed by all those who were lucky enough to call her a friend.

Deb is survived by her husband , Donald Resler Wahpeton; mother, Irene Hruza, Wahpeton; children, Lori (Kurt) Larson and her children, Jonathan, Daniel, Natalie, and Caleb, all of Alexandria, MN; Michael Resler, Helena, MT; Brian Resler, and his daughter, Jada, both of West Fargo; Melissa (Jeremy) Torgersen and her children Shawna, Baily, and Blake of Mandan, ND and daughter Erin and granddaughter Addysen of Port Richey, FL; Christie Resler and her son James, Wahpeton; and Samantha Resler, Fargo.
