David Langenwalter, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away on April 24, 2024, at the family homestead near Fairmount, ND.
David was born on December 23, 1958, in Breckenridge, MN, to Elroy and Shirley (Horsley) Langenwalter. He attended St. John's Grade School, graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1977, and went on to earn a degree in Diesel Mechanics from NDSSS in 1979. David married Kathy Houle on October 4, 1980, at St. John's Catholic Church. They moved to the family homestead in 1987 where they raised their children, John, Jane, and Joseph. David retired from Titan Machinery in 2019.
David led a life defined by his dedication to the Lord, his family and his deep love for the land. He found joy in the simple moments spent with family and cherished memories of their time together. In his free time, David could often be found in his shop working on various projects or hunting and fishing at his favorite spots. David was an Honorary Member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, along with memberships in the Red River Sportsmen's Club, and the Buffalo Club. He was also a Summit Township Supervisor and part owner of Texas Crossing Bar & Grill, Tyler, ND. Those who knew David will remember him for his kind heart, larger than life smile, and as a true steward of the land.
David is survived by his loving wife Kathy Langenwalter; his mother Shirley; his children John (Kylie) Langenwalter, their son Calvin, Jane (Justin) Campbell, their children Luke, Olivia, Daphne, and Alex; Joseph (Kailey Grandalen) Langenwalter; siblings Linda Langenwalter, Karen (Dave) Fitton, and Dean (Renee) Langenwalter; along with many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Elroy Langenwalter, sister MaryJo Harrison, and infant siblings James and Jean.
A visitation will be held at St. John's Catholic Church in Wahpeton on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a Rosary at 6:30 PM and Prayer Service starting at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 10:30 AM at the same location. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in his name to CHI Hospice (Breckenridge) and St. John’s Catholic Church (Wahpeton).
David's legacy of love for family and passion for life will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace.
