Dave was born December 22, 1951, in Grand Forks, ND. He was adopted by Donald and Elaine Jacobson and raised in Wahpeton. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Church in Wahpeton and achieved his High School diploma at Wahpeton High. Dave received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of North Dakota. While in College, he was united in marriage to Beverly Hager at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Balta, ND. They made their home in Wahpeton, ND, where they raised their four children.
After graduation, Dave and his dad started Jacobson Decorating, a paint retail store and contracting crew. Dave took over the business when his dad retired in 1985. Looking for a change, Dave went to work for Newman Signs in Jamestown, ND, as their Purchasing Agent from 1998 to 2003. Wanting to be his own boss again, he returned to papering and painting in Wahpeton.
Among Dave’s interests and enjoyments was being on the Wahpeton City Council for 16 years. He was also a member of the Wahpeton Fire Department and the Knights of Columbus in Jamestown and Wahpeton. He enjoyed spending time, especially holidays and birthdays, with his family, attending the morning coffee groups at the local restaurants, and watching old-time westerns and Star Trek. His favorite place to be was Ottertail Lake, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring. He was a great cook, providing many family-favorite recipes.
He will be sorely missed by his surviving family members: wife, Beverly Jacobson; son, Don (Andi) Jacobson; daughters, Trista (Shane) Koziol; Toni (Scott) Elde; and Teri (John) Muske; grandchildren, Austin (Hailey), Ethan, Jacob, Carter, Keaton, Ava, Sam, Anna, Tenly, Landry, and Ridge; great-grandson Thomas; sisters, Carol Jacobson and Debbie (Robert) Urban; brother, Bruce (Jocelyn) Charbonneau; Aunt, MaryJo (Dick) Scheetz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Elaine Jacobson, and his birth Mother, Frances Charbonneau.
