Darren Johnson, 56, of Wahpeton, ND passed away Friday, October 18, 2024, at his home in Wahpeton, ND, surrounded by his family and under the care of CHI Hospice. A Memorial Service will be held at Evergreen United Methodist Church, Wahpeton, ND on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 11 AM with Fern Bailey officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Darren Dean Johnson was born on March 18, 1968, to Lee Roger and Marjo (Madenwaldt) Johnson. He attended school in Wahpeton, worked at Prime Wood, and then helped with the family business, which was taping and texturing sheetrock. Darren enjoyed fixing and selling used bikes with his dad, continuing to do so after his dad passed away in 2015. He was on the high school basketball team and played baseball with the Great Bend team.
His real love was hunting deer, pheasants, grouse, ducks and geese. This was done as soon as he could hold a gun. He enjoyed hunting with many friends, his dad, and his two brothers.
He is survived by his mother, Marjo; two sisters, Tami (Ken) Turner of Elk River MN, and Twyla (Al) Lopez of Murrieta CA; two brothers, Dan [Monica] Johnson of Las Vegas NV, and Arlyn (AJ) Johnson as many know him (special friend Darcie Huwe) of Wahpeton ND. Other survivors include ten nieces and nephews, four aunts, three uncles, including a special uncle who just turned 96, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, three aunts, and four uncles.
