Born on April 11, 1947, in Eureka, SD, to the late Alvin and Laura Diede, Darrell is survived by his loving spouse, Sherry Diede, his daughter, Nikkol (Kipp) Anderson, and grandchildren, Maxwel, Regan, and Kendel Anderson. He is also survived by his siblings Diana Otterstetter, Audrey Skolnekovich, Donald Diede, Deloris Lawrence, and Clyde Diede. He was preceded in death by his brother Chalmer Diede.
Darrell graduated from Wishek High school in 1965. Darrell proudly served in the Army from 1967 to 1968, receiving training in Communication Electronics Command, Weapon's Locating Radar Operator, and Chemical Biological Radiological. Stationed in Germany, he earned distinctions including the National Defence Service Medal and Marksmanship Badge. Darrell attended NDSCS from 1969 to 1971. Darrell exchanged vows with Sherry R. Schopp on May 3, 1970, in Lehr, North Dakota, and together they cherished fifty-three wonderful years.
Remembered fondly as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Darrell's kindness, smile, and sense of humor persisted even in the face of illness. Though deeply missed, his loved ones find comfort in the knowledge that he rests in the presence of his Savior, Jesus.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Darrell's name. The link for donation is inserted below.
