Daniel Aho

Daniel Luther John Aho, age 56, passed away on January 24, 2022, at Sanford Broadway Medical Center in Fargo. He was born on May 4, 1965, to Bernard and Rose Aho in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and grew up in Rindge, New Hampshire. He met his bride Nancy Johnson in New Ipswich, New Hampshire, and they were married in Steele, North Dakota, on April 22, 1989. They lived in Rindge for two years, where their son Shadrach and daughter Sarah were born, then moved to Wahpeton, North Dakota in 1991, where their second son Meshach was born.

Daniel and Nancy settled in Wahpeton, where they started D & N Lawn Service in 1992. Dan enjoyed his many clients from all walks of life, and he was well-known and well-loved in the community. He was known for his teasing and goofy sense of humor. He often took his young children with him on his tractor and trailer to work on lawns. He loved his family business and young partners, whether he was teaching them to push a mower, giving them a shovel or rake, or having them retrieve his barrels. Often, when they were working all day, they would have a picnic lunch. He worked hard until several years ago when health issues forced him to retire. After he retired, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Shadrach, Sarah (Daniel) Hughes, and Meshach; grandchildren Ravyn Skundberg, Danielle and Salinah Hughes, and Abednego Aho; and siblings Bernard Aho, Jillian Reed, Anna (Fred) Hodgman, and Robert Aho. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Rose Aho, sisters Roseanne Osborne and Candace Bouchard, and brothers Kerry and Edward.

The memorial service will be held at Vertin-Munson Funeral home, Wahpeton, North Dakota, on February 1, 2022. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. and the service will be at 7 p.m. Burial will be in the spring at Pursian Lake Cemetery, Braddock, North Dakota.
