Cyril "Cy" Hudson was born in Pine River, MN on December 21, 1921 to Julius and Manda (Grinager) Hudson. He was baptized in the Christian faith on August 7, 1925. He moved to California as a young child and lived with his family at 2663 Queen Street, Los Angeles. He returned to the Lisbon, ND area as a young adult. He walked to Fargo to enlist in the US Navy on March 11, 1942. He attended the University of Illinois, Champlain Urbana Signal, Semifor, and Blinker school. He navigated the USS Henrico into Omaha Beach during the Invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. He celebrated his 21st birthday December 21, 1942 at Casablanca. He also served on the USS Montague and the USS Lakehurst. He was honorably discharged on March 11, 1945.
After he left the Navy he returned to the Wahpeton area. He was united in marriage to Marian June Bechtell on September 6, 1948 in St. Paul, MN. To this union nine children were born. Cy went into the plastering business with his father, Julius known as Hudson Plastering, that would later be known as Hudson-Mitzel (Ivan) Plastering. When sheetrock came into existence plastering became a thing of the past, so Cy went to work for Meide and Sons where he worked for twelve years and then he retired.
After retirement, he enjoyed his time growing award winning tomatoes. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling to Florida and Colorado and spending time with his grandkids. He hosted many classroom visits from Central Elementary to enjoy his apple harvest. He was also able to go on an Honor Flight to the WWII Memorial in Washington, DC.
Cy was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Manda Hudson; his son, David Hudson; his daughter, Debbie Milligan; and his brothers, Clyde and Kenneth Hudson.
He is survived by his children, Donald Hudson, Wahpeton, Jenni (Steve) Bewley, Denver, CO, James Hudson, Wichita, KS, Cyril "Sonny" (Kristi) Hudson, Davenport, FL, Mona (Mike) McKibben, Dent, MN, Sheila (Jeff) Jeske, Davenport, FL, Jackie (Mike) Munter, Wahpeton; thirteen grandchildren, Nici Johnson, Heather Mizuno, Eric Jaros, Chris and Ben McKibben, Matthew and Zachary Hudson, Heidi Jeske, Rebecca Kveen, Brandon Jeske, Cassy, Samantha, and Jessy Munter; fifteen great-grandchildren, and a niece and nephew.
