Craig R. Amundson, 57, rural Fairmount, ND, passed away, Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at his home. A Memorial service will be Monday, March 12, 10:30 a.m., at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton. There will be sharing with Craig's family one hour before the service.
Craig was born November 4, 1954 at Powers Lake, ND; the son of LeRoy "Bud" and Carol (Larsen) Amundson. In 1960 he moved to Sidney, MT, where he grew up and was baptized at Bella Lutheran Church. He graduated from High School at Sidney, MT., and worked for Renolds Grocery. He started his career in the sugar industry with Holly Sugars in Sidney before starting work at the newly built Minn-Dak Farmers Coop in Wahpeton, ND in 1974 as a sugar boiler. He married Elaine "Susy" Marie Dally on June 14, 1982. In 1983 he completed some Architectural Drafting courses at NDSCS in Wahpeton; he really loved the challenge of math. For the last 37 years, Craig has continued to be employed by Minn-Dak Farmers Coop.
Craig enjoyed hunting with his friends near Yellowstone Park and his favorite time of the year was camping with his family at Kenossee Park in Canada for two weeks; a tradition that he started as a child. He loved the outdoors, his Labrador dogs and living in the country.
Craig is survived by his wife, Elaine, rural Fairmount, ND; his mother Carol Elaine Amundson, Sidney; his two brothers: LeRoy (Fran) Amundson, Sidney; Mark (Jennifer) Amundson, Great Falls, MT; his sister, Joan (Doug) Tommerup, Plentywood, MT; nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Amundson, his brother, David, and a niece, Chelsey Tommerup.
