ClaraAnn Evavold

November 15, 1938 — July 20, 2024

ClaraAnn Evavold, 85 of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Wahpeton, ND, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, in Ecumen Evergreens in Moorhead, MN. Her funeral service will be held at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton, on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour before the service. René Hasbargen will officiate the service. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Wahpeton. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton. 

ClaraAnn Thielman was born on November 15, 1938 to Adolph and Clara (Wallock) Thielman. She attended a rural Moran School, and graduated from Lidgerwood High School in 1956.

She worked in Milwaukee Wisconsin for a year before returning to Lidgerwood in 1957. ClaraAnn was united in marriage to Wayne Mahler of Lidgerwood, on August 14, 1958. The couple moved to Wahpeton, ND, where she began working for Dr. H.H. Miller. Wayne died April 19, 1979.

ClaraAnn worked for The Elks Club, and Wil-Rich in the Purchasing Dept. and then began a 21-year career at Minn-Dak Farmers Coop, retiring in 2001. She married Chuck Evavold, on May 3, 1990, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton. Chuck died March 7, 2004. 

She loved being with her children and grandchildren. Cooking, reading and playing bingo were some of her favorite pastimes. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, The American Legion Auxiliary, The Eagles Auxiliary, a past member of the Ladies Ritual Team, and held a number of offices over the years.

She is survived by her two daughters, Wendy Myhra, Wimberley, TX, and Beth (Russ) Meyer, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Dillon Meyer (Jacob Haugen), Allyson (Brad) Nordick, and their daughters, Olivia and Penelope, Brandi Myhra, Brianna Myhra, and her daughter, Braelyn Doherty.

ClaraAnn is preceded in death by her husbands, Wayne Mahler and Charles Evavold; parents, Adolph and Clara; brothers, Roger (Dorothy) Thielman and Doyle (Francis) Thielman; sister, Jane (Arnold) Foertsch.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
