Brenda Jones

Brenda Jones, 68, of Wahpeton, ND, passed away on February 1, 2025, surrounded by family. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 10:30 AM, with visitation one hour before the service at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton. Pastor Matthew Tooman will officiate the service.

Brenda was born May 9, 1956, to Edmund and Claudia (Mehlhoff) Burrer in Ipswitch, SD. Brenda was baptized on June 24, 1956, and confirmed into her faith on September 26, 1971. She was raised on their family farm near Wing, ND where she attended and graduated from Wing High School in 1974. She went on to attend college at NDSCS in 1974 & 1975 earning a degree in Stenography. Brenda began her career working at Ro-Banks, as a secretary, in 1975. 

On April 8, 1978, Brenda married the love of her life, John T. Jones in Wing, ND. With a move to the Wahpeton area, Brenda worked her first stint with Smith Motors from 1992 - 1996. With a brief move to Seward, NE, Brenda work for Herpolsheimer's Auto Dealership until the family then moved back to Wahpeton where Brenda could again be found at Smith Motors until her retirement in 2020.

Brenda was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton and enjoyed being an active volunteer when needed. She also served on many church boards and cherished the ladies she associated with in the Ladies Club. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  

Brenda was a loving, kind person, was always in good spirits, enjoyed life and lending a hand to whomever she could and then known for never wanting to take credit for all she gave to others. Brenda was strong and steadfast in her faith; loving her family as much as she loved the God she served. The time with her family was her most cherished, especially at the lakes, singing, karaoke with John to love songs and never missing the opportunity to be there for her children and grandchildren. She never missed a school activity, and her presence will be dearly missed. Brenda also enjoyed reading, sewing, baking and gardening. 

Brenda is survived by her husband, John; her three children Janee Rabbithead, Patrick Jones, and Tamara Jones; two stepsons Jeff Jones and Chris Jones; her seven grandchildren Madison Rabbithead, Brooklyn Rabbithead, Hailee Rabbithead, Carter Rabbithead, Weston Brownlee, Sophia Jones, and Riley Jones. She is also survived by her sister, Becky (Mark) Berg, brothers Dennis (Wanda) Burrer, Byron Burrer, Virgil (Susan) Burrer, many relatives and friends she loved dearly. 

Brenda was proceeded in death by her father Edmund, mother Claudia and brother Gary Burrer.
