Blanch was born to Frank and Lena (Bauer) James on December 13, 1922. She grew up in Kent, MN and attended school as a child in Breckenridge, MN. Blanch was united in marriage to Lloyd Manock in 1950 in Wahpeton, ND where they raised their family. Blanch and Lloyd were blessed with a loving marriage for 48 years until Lloyd's death in 1998.

As a young woman raising 7 children, Blanch worked as a waitress for many years at several iconic cafes in downtown Wahpeton. The skills and lessons she learned at Bud's Café and Clem's Café lasted a life time as evidenced by her actions. Blanch always made sure everyone was offered a place to sit and something to eat and would never sit down until everyone was served. Blanch was a lifelong member of Bethel Lutheran Church and especially enjoyed her years serving with her friends in Circle One.

Blanch loved children of all ages and dogs of all sizes. Nothing would brighten her day more than holding a small child or sitting and showering some love to a visiting pet.

Blanch is survived by her seven children: Joan (Doug) Ackling of Frazee, MN; Ronald (Betty) Raftevold, Fargo, ND; Darrel (Maryanne) Raftevold, Fargo, ND; James (Renate) Raftevold, Augusta, GA; Rick (LoAnn) Raftevold, Barnesville, MN; Sandra (Dale) Henrichs, Glendive, MT; and Carol Manock, Wahpeton; 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild.
