Beverly Wateland, 71, Breckenridge, MN, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at her home, surrounded by her family. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 7 at Breckenridge Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Manning officiating. Visitation will begin Thursday at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, ND (920 3rd Avenue North), at 5:00 p.m. with a prayer and continue until 8:00 p.m.; also, visitation one hour prior to service on Friday at the church. Interment will be held at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Arrangements are entrusted with the Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.
Beverly Halstenson was born May 20, 1936, to Hilman and Martha (Eckhardt) Halstenson in Wahpeton. She grew up on a farm near Mooreton, ND, and graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1954. She was united in marriage to Glenn Wateland on November 19, 1955, at the Dwight, ND Lutheran Church.
Beverly proudly worked at Pamida in Wahpeton for nearly 30 years. She was a member of Breckenridge Lutheran Church, Homemakers Club, Spinning Top Square Dancing, enjoyed garage sales, weekends at their trailer at Wee Villa Resort, Long Lake, near Elizabeth, MN, and caring for her grandchildren.
Bev is survived by her husband, Glenn, Breckenridge; one daughter, Jan (Todd) Thompson, Fargo, ND; 3 sons, Kevin (Brenda) Wateland, Wahpeton, Curt Wateland, Las Vegas, NV, Ryan (Liz) Wateland, Sauk Rapids, MN; 10 grandchildren, Jake Wateland, Devils Lake, ND, Joe, James, Sarah Wateland, Fargo, ND, Savannah Wateland, Las Vegas, NV, Brady Wateland, Sauk Rapids, MN, Katie (Chris) Fassler, Fargo, Sean Thompson, Fargo, Sam and Lily Wateland, Sauk Rapids, MN; 2 great-grandchildren, Simon and Anna; 1 brother, Rodney (Fran) Huberty, Union, WA; 4 sisters, Muriel (Gordon) Johnson, Mooreton, ND, Janet (Sherman) Johnson, Hazen, ND, Cheryl (John) Lee, Colfax, ND, Pam (Bill) Braun, Wahpeton; and 2 sisters-in-law, Judy (Mark) Underberg, Breckenridge, MN and Renee (Joe) Speidel, Wahpeton, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Connie Weber; and 2 brothers, Jim and Gary Halstenson.
