Bernice Dietz

Bernice A. Dietz, Breckenridge, MN, passed away December 10, 2013, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN. The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, December 19, 11:00 a.m., at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Dale Lagodinski as celebrant. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5 PM to 8 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Vigil, at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton and one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be at Fort Snelling Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.

Bernice was born June 13, 1925, at Tyler, ND, the daughter of Daniel and Maria (Seifert) Baldner. She grew up on a farm and graduated from Wahpeton High School and attended NDSCS. She married James G. Dietz on September 4, 1948 at St. John's in Wahpeton; she lived in Wahpeton when Jim was in the service. The family lived in Fargo for a time before returning to Wahpeton. Bernice worked for many years at Great Plains Natural Gas, retiring in 1991.

The family spent their summers at West McDonald Lake, MN. In 1991 they moved to the lakes, in 1995 the couple moved to Wadena, MN. Jim passed away February 21, 1996, Bernice returned to Wahpeton in July of 1997.

Bernice is survived by her son and daughter: Jeffrey T. (Joann) Dietz, Warrenville, IL; Virginia A. (Jeff) Schnieders, Fayetteville, NC; eight grandchildren: Jacquelyn, Jessica, James, Joanna, Don, Mike, Scott and Joey; nine great grandchildren.
