Barbara Schroeder

Barbara Ann Schroeder was born to Alva (White) and Willard Schroeder Sr. on June 13, 1953, the third of 18 children. She grew up on a farm just outside of Fairmount, ND. She graduated from High School in 1971 and attended St. Benedict's College in St. Joseph, MN, receiving a degree as a Registered Nurse. As part of an International studies program during College, Barbara went to school in England for a year with her sister Faye.
Barbara worked at the VA Hospital in St. Cloud, MN receiving awards for her work. Around 1987, she attended Calgary Bible College in Kansas City, MO. During that time she also worked for a nursing home.
In 1996, Barbara was diagnosed with breast cancer. She then moved to Wheaton, MN to live with her Mother and to be closer to family. She took it upon herself as a personal challenge through homeopathy and faith to find the answers to her medical situation and to help her family's health. Up until very close to her death, Barbara still did not admit defeat. True grit kept her alive for many years, as she endured many setbacks and suffered extensive pain throughout her ordeal.
Barbara resided at St. Catherine's Living Center in Wahpeton, ND for just a few weeks before her death, until that time living at home under her own care. She passed away October 27, 2011 attended by her family on her deceased brother Bruce's birthday.
Some of the things that Barbara loved were being in the sun, dancing, learning, and collecting bits and pieces of outside nature for art projects; she was very intelligent and creative. She also enjoyed being around other people whenever possible and loved a good debate to find the truth!
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Willard Schroeder, Sr., her brother, Bruce, and her brother-in-law, Russell Keller.

Timothy Schroeder, Grafton, ND, Jayne (Dennis) Flaagan, East Grand Forks, MN , Sharon (Dean Anderson) Schroeder, Hopkins, MN, Gregory (Cathy) Schroeder, Gillette, WY, Jeffery Schroeder, Wahpeton, ND, Barry (Melissa) Schroeder, Wahpeton, ND, David (Kelly) Schroeder, Fergus Falls, MN, Mary Schroeder, West Fargo, ND, and Christopher Schroeder, Prior Lake, MN; and thirty nieces and nephews.
