Arline Meyer

Arline F. Meyer, 84, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND. The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, 10:30 A.M., at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Dale Lagodinski as celebrant. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5 PM to 8 PM, with a 6:30 Prayer Vigil at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Wahpeton.

Arline Simdorn was born January 3, 1928 at Wahpeton, ND, the daughter of Gustav and Alma (Witt) Simdorn. She grew up near Barney, ND, and then moved with her family to near Mantador, ND. She graduated from Hankinson High School and married Leo Meyer in 1947. They lived in Wahpeton where Arline worked for St. John's Catholic School for 21 years. Leo passed away in 1963 and Arline married Norbert Meyer in 1965. Norbert passed away in 2009 and Arline continued to reside in Wahpeton.

Arline was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and involved in the church circle the Eagles. Her hobbies included sewing (rugs, magic pillows, and hanging towels) reading, quilting and playing cards. She also enjoyed bowling, fishing, word find puzzles and watching softball,

Arline is survived by nine children: Philip (Cindy) Meyer, Overly, ND; Patricia (Shannon) Sorlie, Great Falls, MT; Thomas (Angie) Meyer, Fargo, ND; Marlys (Craig) Braun, Mooreton, ND; Merna (Bruce) Thiele, Wahpeton; William (Lori) Meyer, Chandler, AZ; Kenneth Meyer, Wahpeton; Susan (Steve) Schutt, Milnor, ND and Sandra (Russ) Jenson, Commerce City, CO; 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Leo Meyer and Norbert Meyer, four brothers, Myron Simdorn, Elroy Simdorn, Melvin "Toby" Simdorn and DuWayne Simdorn, two sisters, Viola (Toots) Meyer, and Marion Staroba, a great granddaughter, Alexia Hicks and a daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Meyer.
