Archie D. Score, 85, West Fargo, ND, formerly Dwight, ND, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, ND. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, at Faith Lutheran Church, Dwight, ND, with Rev. Gordon Lee officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5 PM to 7 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Service at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton and one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be at Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Dwight. Arrangements have been entrusted with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.
Archie Donald Score was born March 18, 1930, in rural Walcott, ND, the son of Joseph and Clara (Ulven) Score. He attended school in Dwight and Wahpeton High School. Archie served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1955, stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. He married Loree Anderson on June 3rd, 1953 at Faith Lutheran Church, Dwight. The couple resided the next two years in Norfolk, returning to Dwight after Archie received his honorable discharge from the Navy. The couple lived in Dwight and farmed in the area, raising three boys. In 1979 he owned and operated the Dwight Oil Co., which he ran for several years. He retired from farming in 1992 and sold the oil company in 2000. In 2009 Archie and Loree moved to West Fargo, ND.
Archie was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church and was the Church Treasurer for 46 years. He had belonged to the Dwight Fire Department and served on the Dwight School Board. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and was an avid card player.
Archie is survived by his wife of 62 years, Loree, West Fargo; three sons: Perry Score, Fargo; Craig (Kari) Score, West Fargo; Blake (Brenda) Score, Lake Elmo, MN; six grandchildren; Sommer (Matt) Wolfe, Derek (Sarah) Score, Jesse (Kate) Score, Justin, Hatti, and Tessa Score; three great-grandchildren: Abbigal, Madison, and Skyllar; and several nieces and nephews.
Archie was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Clara, three brothers and two sisters: Irene Woodbury, Jim Score, Josephine Quamme, Eugene Score and Dick Score.
