Anna Josephine Helgeson (Berg), 101, Breckenridge, MN, formerly Moorhead, MN, went to sleep in death on November 16, 2013, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN.
Anna was born August 23, 1912, in Oklee, MN, to Norwegian immigrant parents Thorvald and Ragneld Berg. She grew up on a farm her father homesteaded in Beltrami, County, MN, and attended school in a one room schoolhouse in that area. On September 26, 1934 she married Theodore (Ted) Helgeson in Moorhead MN. They had two daughters. Ted passed away September of 1955; Anna continued to live in Moorhead until moving to St. Francis Healthcare Campus in Breckenridge to be near her family.
Anna was a very active woman. One thing dear to her heart was talking to people about the Bible. Her hope is being resurrected when God's will is done on the earth and all sickness, sorrow, pain, old age and death will be no more.
She had many hobbies, gardening, crocheting, quilting, knitting, sewing and giving to her friends many of the things she made. She also loved playing cards and board games. She took Spanish classes in her 70's and American Sign Language in her 80's. Anna loved her grandchildren and attended all of their special events.
Anna is survived by two daughters, Margie (Garfield) Graalum, Littleton, Co and Dorothy (Joen) Blouin, Wahpeton, ND; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ted Helgeson, a brother, Oscar Berg and a sister, Mable Smith.
The Funeral Service will be Saturday, November 23, 4:00 PM at Breckenridge Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Arrangements are with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.
