She was born on February 19, 1938, in Beulah, ND, to Adam and Elizabeth (Redman) Rueb. Alta grew up on the family farm, where her love for cats would be lifelong. She is said to have had 13 cats on the farm and had a name for all of them. She graduated from Beulah High School and moved to Bismarck, ND, where she was married and had 3 children, Debbie, Scott, and Dean. Alta worked as a CNA for 35 years at St. Francis Nursing Home in Breckenridge, MN, where she had a deep pride in caring for people until her retirement. Walmart soon came to town and she was one of the first employees hired for their Grand Opening. She was the face of the company, greeting everyone with a smile as they came in to shop. Customers knew her by name as she loved visiting with everyone for 15 years.
Alta loved all her grandchildren and especially loved her conversations with her only granddaughter Mattie. Also, she loved attending numerous sports activities over the years. Wrestling was a huge passion as it was the favorite sport of choice for a couple of generations. You always knew if she was in the crowd at a match. Her voice could be heard cheering them on. Alta loved making Christmas goodies for her children and their families. She was known for her carrot and yummy bars. She never missed sending birthday cards to her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved and worried about everyone in the family. She will be missed and thought of every day. Her strong work ethic and determination will be admired forever.
Alta is survived by daughter, Debbie (Mike) Close; sons, Scott (Christina) Lehmann, and Dean (Lisa) Lehmann; grandchildren, Mattie, Clint, Brian, Alex, Tyler, Preston, Zachary, Daniel, Justin, Eric, Michael; and 12 Great-Grandchildren.
