Albena "Beanie" Oliver 95, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at CHI St. Francis Healthcare, Breckenridge, MN, under the care of Hospice. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at St. John's Catholic Church with Rev. Patrick Parks as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton. Arrangements have been entrusted with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.
Albena Catherine Oliver was born September 1, 1920 in McKeesport, PA, the daughter of Pete and Beatrice Mechainis. She grew up in Pennsylvania, attended school and moved to Chicago to work. She was united in marriage to Earl "Bud" Oliver in Chicago. Beanie moved to McAllen, TX, while Bud was in the military. The couple then moved to Wahpeton, ND, where they raised their three children, Carol, Jim and Susie. Beanie helped her husband in their grocery business, Super Value Store and Valley Realty. Her husband, Bud, passed away May 8, 2008. Beanie continued to live in her home thanks to the help of her family.
Beanie once belonged to St. Adalbert's Catholic Church; upon closing she enrolled at St. John's Catholic Church and was involved with the church circle for many years. Her priorities in life were her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She had a special love of animals, especially her dogs.
Beanie is survived by her daughter, Carol (William) Daniels, St. Louis Park, MN; her son, James (Donelyn) Oliver, Wahpeton; three grandchildren: Benjamin Oliver, Wahpeton; Gabriel (Elisabeth) Oliver, Washington DC; and Joseph (Joelle) Oliver, Wahpeton; great-grandsons, Wesley and Patrick; and great-granddaughters, Christina and Lucy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bud, her daughter, Susie, and two sisters, Stella and Dora.
