Alan Brendefur

November 20, 1933 — April 30, 2016

Alan Brendefur, 82, of Wahpeton, ND, formerly of Kingsland, TX, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at CHI St. Francis Health, Breckenridge, MN. His memorial service will be at 10:30 am, Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton. Pastor John Andrews will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Campbell, MN. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Edward Alan Brendefur was born on November 20, 1933 to Raymond and Mabel (Haugen) Brendefur at Tintah, MN. He grew up in Campbell, MN and graduated from Campbell High School with the class of 1952. Alan joined the Air Force in 1953, where he worked his way to an E6 Technical Sergeant. He was honorably discharged after 20 years of service in 1973.

After leaving the Air Force, Alan lived in Alaska where he sold real estate, and was involved in many other business ventures. He later moved to Breckenridge, MN where he owned a restaurant with his sister, Sharon. Alan later moved to Texas where he lived for 25 years. While there, he volunteered much of his time at the Hill Country Food Program and the Kingsland Senior Citizen Center. Alan moved to Wahpeton in December of 2015 where he made many new friends.

Alan was a member of the Kingsland Texas American Legion. He loved to hunt, fish, and take part in all of his nieces and nephews sporting events. He enjoyed visiting and playing cards with his friends, but especially liked bridge. Alan took great pride in cooking for the senior citizens in Texas. He was a very generous man, and would go out of his way to show anyone an act of kindness.

Alan is survived by his siblings, Lloyd Brendefur, Sheridan, WY, Wayne (Carol) Brendefur, Fergus Falls, MN, and Margaret (Darrell) Nulph, Bruce Brendefur, and Karon Meyer, all of Wahpeton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Brendefur; sister, Sharon Meyer; sister-in-law, Leona Brendefur; and brother-in-law, Warren Meyer.
