Agnes Kuntz, 73, Fairmount, ND passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at her residence after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). The Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, November 22, at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Fairmount, with Rev. Dale Lagodinski officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, from 5 PM to 7 PM with a prayer vigil at 7 PM at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Fairmount. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.
Agnes was born on November 11, 1943 to Emil and Josephine (Barina) Stach in Breckenridge, MN. She grew up in Breckenridge and attended St. Mary's School and Breckenridge High School. She was united in marriage to Robert Kurtz in Breckenridge on October 8, 1961. The couple lived in Fairmount, ND where they raised their children and Agnes worked as a waitress at Doug's Bar. Robert passed away on September 23, 1987. After her children were grown she began working as a cook at the Fairmount School for many years and later cooked for St. John's Childcare in Wahpeton until retiring in 2012. Agnes was united in marriage to Anton (A.J.) Kuntz in Fairmount on July 26, 2002.
Agnes enjoyed fishing (as long as AJ cleaned them), hunting, cooking, reading, crocheting, and quilt making. She loved to go for rides and travel, but her main love was her family especially when they got together for the 4th of July.
Agnes is survived by her husband, AJ, Fairmount, ND; her children, Richard Kurtz, Barbara (fiancé, Brent Osborn) Kurtz, Steve (Sarah Abel) Kurtz, Tim (Sherri) Kurtz, Ken (Lisa) Kurtz, Burt (Sally) Kurtz, Carl (Nicole) Kurtz; AJ's children, Damian (Jenny) Kuntz, Claudine Lieble, Perry Kuntz, Peggy Butts, Amy (Patrick) Richardson, Tina Fuehrer, Troy (Jenna) Kuntz; her 28 grandchildren with several great-grandchildren; her siblings, Corrine Krause, John Stach, Shirley Krahn, Fern Elshaug, Emil Stach, Jr., Joseph Stach, Gloria Daker, and Frances Woodcock, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Josphine Stach, her husband, Robert Kurtz, her granddaughter Aurora Kurtz, her seven sisters, and a brother.
